Light up the way! The frameless way.
Quick overview
So many homes suffer from a windowless landing which in our good old British winters can feel even more dark and dingey.
Keith in Northampton had the idea to brighten up his landing with our frameless glass balustrade.
How to bring in the light
Fitting
After taking out the old stud walls himself Keith purchased our Solus frameless balustrade system. Solus is a great easy to install system perfect for the DIY inclined. It uses folding wedges to lock the glass in place and is well suited for both internal and external installations.
Keith was able to fix our Solus channel into the pre-existing substructure. Solus can easily be fitted to a number of substructures such as steel and masonry. The channel comes pre drilled at 200mm centres so no need to drill holes through the channel yourself.
Keith could have mitred the channel on site for his corner (which is easy to do), but he opted for one of our pre made corners to make installation even easier. Our pre made corners come with fixing holes so you fix them down the same way as the channel.
Once the channel was installed Keith measured up for his glass. When measuring for the glass we always suggest leaving a 10mm gap between panels. This helps on installation and also gives you a bit of tolerance.
We supplied the glass to his sizes and Keith was able to fit the glass within the channel easily using our wedge clamping system.
Adding an end cap to the open end by the stairs finished off the installation nicely.
The Result
Now Keiths landing is no longer a dark walk through area at the top of his stairs, it's a light, open and safe part of his home.
